My Story

Picture
My childhood experiences influenced my journey toward the health, nutrition, and wellness realm.

I was born in the 1960’s with no cell phones or internet connection, but lots of fresh air and eating nutrient-dense whole foods. I was exposed to healthy cooking, influenced by a brilliant, intelligent, and beautiful mother that by the time I reached the age of 17, I had a paramount perspective and a healthy zest for wellness.

In my 30s and early 40s I was facing with a lot of back pain, allergies and sinus infections not knowing at the time that I had the answers at my fingertips to correct the “inflammation”. I decided to shift my focus and begin to look for answers. I committed myself to going back to my early years of eating clean whole foods and to relearning as much as I could about proper nurturing foods, seeing food as medicine, more in tuned with my body, habit behavioral change and the psychology behind prioritizing health and wellness.

I started learning that the body is programmed for health and that everything that is necessary for healing is already present inside your body. I learned the importance of a healthy lifestyle: having a healthy back requires daily exercise, quality nutrition, balancing stress and avoiding toxins.

"It is the call to service, giving our life over to something
larger than ourselves, the call to become what we were
meant to become – the call to achieve our vital design."
-Joe Jaworski
I HAD NO IDEA AT THE TIME THAT MY CHOICES ABOUT FOOD, AND LIFESTYLE WERE ALL FUELING MY HEALTH ISSUES.
If you know me, you know I am incredibly persistent and determined when I set my mind to something. Well, I was determined to become healthy and feel good again. So, I set out to do just that and focused on healing my body through nature and nurture. What I discovered, through this process and my own personal challenges, is that each of us is capable of taking good care of ourselves and we all know what we need to do to be healthier. I will always recall one of my mother’s sayings, “treating our bodies as a temple of the universe, it is our responsibility”. I have always resonated with that statement until this day.

Coming face to face with the reality that my body needed help was really the first step in my process of transforming into the person I am today and being able to make an impact on people’s lives. When you get in touch with who you are and what is really going on beneath the surface, I believe that is where the ultimate shift begins. It is the starting point for true transformation to take place. It is like taking the time to find yourself.

HERE ARE 2 THINGS I'VE LEARNED ON MY JOURNEY
  1. To reach our health goals, we do not have to be perfect, we just need to take action.
  2. Consistent action leads to improvement.

You do not have to be perfect. Contrary to what you might believe, perfectionism is like a bad sauce. We pour it over our lives and our goals and then, inevitably, we screw up. Perfectionism ends up being an excuse for failure: “I ate a potato chip. There goes my perfect plan. I might as well eat the whole darn bag!”

Consistency leads to improvement. Everyone slips and falls (and slips and falls again). Changing habits takes time and practice. Practice. Repeat. Be patient and kind with yourself.
There are many powerful choices available to us; choices that will have a real impact on how we feel and give us tools to cope with what life throws our way. Powerful choices. Often, we just do not know about them, or are reluctant to try them. because they are unfamiliar or sound too much like hocus pocus. The positive effects on your health and vitality are cumulative.
LET ME SHARE THE KNOWLEDGE OF MY JOURNEY WITH YOU AND TOGETHER LET US LEAP!
Growing older is a privilege and aging gracefully is a gift to myself. Now in my 50s I feel more amazing than what I did in the 30s and 40s. I am back at having healthy zest for wellness.
Life will only change when you become more committed to your dreams than you are to your comfort zone."
